Project

Exploring the questionable genius of the world’s most infamous street artist, The Art of Banksy Melbourne exhibited over 80 pieces of original art and screen prints in a pop-up gallery on The Paddock at Federation Square. Curated by the artists’ former manager and agent, Steve Lazarides, the exhibition had previously been shown in Istanbul and Amsterdam. Whilst the exhibition did not directly involve the artist himself, all artwork had been exhibited and sold by Banksy to private collectors around the world.

Having studied Street Art and the origins of Banksy, including attending the ‘Banksy Versus Bristol Museum‘ (UK) exhibition in 2009 and travelling through the West Bank in search of the artists’ 2005 works, Five Creative’s director, Charlie Ryan, was brought into the project from the very early stages to help develop and produce Melbourne’s showing of the international exhibition, in a role that incorporated both Creative Director and Assistant Curator.

Five Creative was engaged to produce the branding, copywriting, print and online marketing campaign, which included: Press and Magazine Ads, Billboards, Tram Wrap, Flags, Banners, Posters, Flyers, Website, Digital Ads, Social Media and Email Campaigns.

The project also included the naming, branding and print collateral for the galleries bar and outdoor area, Circle and Railyard.

“Five Creative assumed full creative control for The Art of Banksy – Melbourne exhibition and delivered with endless amounts of content for both the traditional and digital media campaign. The exhibition ran for almost 4 months and during this time required large amounts of creative messaging to be pushed out, Five Creative did this and always went above and beyond our expectations!”
